Emmett Moore was born and raised in Norfolk, graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in 1982 and immediately joined Bay Disposal as a Sales Representative. Prior to the sale of Bay Disposal in 1989, Emmett worked his way up through the company as its Sales Manager, Operations Manager and, eventually, General Manager. In 1991, the Schaubach’s and Moore formed a new company, Area Container Services, to provide solid waste collection and disposal services throughout Hampton Roads. Emmett was minority owner and General Manager of Area Container. In 1996, the company was sold to Republic Services (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.). Emmett stayed and served as the company’s General Manager until Republic sold the company in 2000 to Allied Waste. Following the sale of Republic’s operation here, the market was left with no full service locally-owned trash collection companies so Emmett entered the waste collection business for the third time bringing back the name, Bay Disposal. Emmett joined the company as minority owner and Vice President. The knowledge he gained managing a locally owned business and managing a company that was part of a large corporation has been critical to the success of our current company. In 2010, Emmett was named President of Bay Disposal, Inc.
Emmett has been involved in all aspects of the industry over the past 27 years. His knowledge spans every facet of the business, from route efficiencies and incentive programs to acquisitions, bidding and managing municipal accounts such as the City of Norfolk, the City of Hampton, City of Virginia Beach, City of Newport News, City of Poquoson, and managing the accounts of many large private firms. He currently holds a State of Virginia license as a Certified Waste Facility Operator.
