May 6, 2010: Bay Disposal Fights Political Sign Pollution

Bay Disposal & Recycling and the City of Chesapeake, Va. combined forces, at absolutely no cost to the taxpayer, to launch a fight against PSP, Political Sign Pollution. Bay Disposal placed a large recycling container at Chesapeake's centrally-located Sports Park on Greenbrier Parkway. All citizens of the City were encouraged to bring any political signs to the Park and dump them in Bay's container rather than putting them into the normal wastestream. Signs removed from public thoroughfares by the City were also dumped in the Bay Disposal container. The company processed for recycling all the signs collected at the site. At the conclusion of the elections and the finish of the collections, Emmett Moore, President of Bay Disposa l& Recycling said, "We are very happy to be able to offer this service to all the cities in our area. We will collect and process these political campaign signs in a nonpartisan manner with all due diligence and care."
